State Farm Center is now hiring for various positions for the 2017-18 season.

Below are descriptions of the positions we are currently accepting applications for. 

Event Staff

State Farm Center is hiring event staff for the upcoming season.  Event staff members are responsible for a wide variety of roles to enhance the guest experience, including greeting guests, scanning tickets, directing guests to seating areas and facility amenities, serving as ushers inside of the arena, and staffing the Illinois Premium Seating club spaces and seating areas within State Farm Center.  Team members are expected to set a tone of exceptional customer service for all guests and staff.   State Farm Center employees must be at least 18 year of age and cannot be enrolled in High School and cannot be full-time employees of the University of Illinois.  Starting pay rate for this position is $8.25 per hour. 

Walk-in interviews will be held for State Farm Center Event Staff on August 28-30 from 3:30-8:00 p.m. each day at State Farm Center. No appointments are necessary. Simply show up during the open interview time periods! Casual dress is acceptable.

Interview Times:

Monday, August 28 (3:30-8:00 p.m.)

Tuesday, August 29 (3:30-8:00 p.m.)

Wednesday, August 30 (3:30-8:00 p.m.)

Location: State Farm Center (Located at the corner of Kirby and Fourth in Champaign)

Enter through the Lower East Entrance. (Parking is available in the Northeast Lot, accessible off of Kirby Avenue and Fourth Street.) Please note that this is the side of the building facing Fourth Street, and NOT the West Grand Entrance to the building.

 

Security Staff

State Farm Center is hiring security staff for the upcoming season.  Security staff members are responsible for monitoring crowds and secured areas, while at the same time providing exceptional customer service, in order to provide a safe environment for our guests.  Applicants with security experience are preferred.

Parking Staff

State Farm Center is hiring parking staff for the upcoming season.  Parking staff members are responsible for collecting parking fees and monitoring parking lots, while at the same time providing exceptional customer service, at State Farm Center events.  Applicants with cash handling experience are preferred.

Emergency Medical Staff

State Farm Center is hiring emergency medical staff for the upcoming season. Staff members are responsible for providing emergency medical care during events at State Farm Center.  Requirements for this position are as follows:  2 years of experience in Prehospital EMS and/or Emergency Department; ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; currently employed in an EMS system or Emergency Department, current certification in BLS and CPR, current EMT/EMT-I/EMT-P licensure.  (Current ACLS card needed for Advanced providers)

Merchandiser and Merchandiser Supervisors

State Farm Center is hiring merchandisers for the upcoming season. Merchandisers will sell and display novelties (clothing apparel and souvenirs) for concerts and shows.  Position entails suggestive selling, organizing, ability to count inventory, and providing excellent customer service.  Applicants with cash handling experience and retail sales are preferred.

State Farm Center employees must be at least 18 year of age and cannot be enrolled in High School and cannot be full-time employees of the University of Illinois. Ability and willingness to work unusual, at times long, and varying infrequent work schedules including late night. Stagehand Staff

WE ARE NO LONGER HIRING STAGEHANDS FOR THE 2017-18 SEASON

Stagehands are responsible for helping set up and tear down traveling shows that come into our building. Applicants must be able to lift over 50 pounds and work long hours.

State Farm Center employees must be at least 18 year of age and cannot be enrolled in High School and cannot be full-time employees of the University of Illinois. Starting pay rate for this position is $18.75 per hour. 

Student Internship Opportunities

Student Marketing Internships

Requirements: Must be a currently enrolled University of Illinois student, have an interest in the Entertainment Marketing field, friendly and outgoing, demeanor of a young professional, responsible and organized. Excellent communication skills and creativity are musts.

Preferred Qualifications: Majoring in Communications, Media, Advertising, or RST (Recreation, Sports, and Tourism)

Hours: Flexibile to student schedule; 10 hours/week

Pay Rate: TBD; this is a paid internship position

Job Description: The student intern will report directly to the Assistant Director and Coordinator of State Farm Center Marketing. As Marketing Interns, students will focus efforts on reaching the university student body. These efforts include developing social media outreach, identifying campus community opportunities, and coordinating street team ventures. Marketing Interns will also be responsible for managing marketing databases, performing marketing research, and other duties as assigned.

Students will receive significant exposure to most aspects of event marketing and have the opportunity to develop skills that will prepare them for the professional world of entertainment.

A one-year academic commitment is required.
